Surrendering a pet is a very difficult decision. Retrievers & Friends of St. Louis is here to assist you in making that decision. We are glad you have decided to surrender your dog to our rescue and we can assure you that we will find the perfect foster home to care for your dog until the perfect forever home is selected. We carefully screen all of our foster and adoptive homes.
In order to surrender your pet, you will need read and agree to the Owner Surrender Agreement and complete the Intake & Surrender Questionnaire at the bottom of this page. You will be required to sign the Owner Surrender Agreement at time of surrender.
Please fill out the forms as completely and comprehensively has possible. These documents assist Retrievers & Friends of St. Louis’ volunteers in placing your dog in the best possible foster home. All dogs are assessed prior to being accepted through the surrender process and into a foster home.
We will need to contact your veterinarian and review your dog’s vet records prior to making a commitment whether we can accept your dog into our rescue. The surrender process can take anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks depending on how complete the paperwork is and upon review of vet records. The more you can tell us about your pet, the quicker we can make our decision.
We will also need a digital picture of your dog. You can include the picture in an email and send to the address below or if you would like to provide a hard copy, please mail to the address below.
Note: We cannot take dogs with aggression issues but are more than happy to provide recommendations for trainers or behavior specialists.
